Tip of the Week

In the course of almost every home improvement project, there is a point where it seems that nothing is going right, it`s too hot, it`s too cold, it`s taking too long, and "I wish the kid next door would turn that *%(@$@ music down". Even the pro`s who work on projects every day get frustrated from time to time. So, what can be done about it? Plan for it.

Whether you are working on a half-day job or a half-year job, the time will come when you just need to get a cup of coffee, go sit under a tree, and regain your composure. Remember that time fishing, or shopping, or my favorite, scuba diving. Get as far away from the job as possible for a mini-vacation.

Towards the end of your vacation, ease back into the job by taking a fresh look at the problem that is causing the frustration. Figure out someone to blame the problem on- preferably someone who is at least 500 miles away- and give them the blame. If no one else comes to your mind, blame it all on me.

Then, dust yourself off, get back to work, and fix the thing that I did wrong. See there? I`ll bet you feel better already.
