Sometimes humidity can affect GFI outlets. It is my guess that the outlet is several years old. If it were mine, I would replace the outlet. You can buy a new outlet for about $10, even less if they are on sale. Just be careful to shut off the breaker before doing the work, and pay particulat attention to moving one wire at a time. Also, it probably wouldn`t hurt to replace the weatherproof cover. The water resistant gasket can break down over time.
