Tip of the Week

A newsletter reader recently wrote:

"To help with household pest problems without subjecting your home to a chemical warfare scene, Diatomaceous earth can help. Sprinkle it around your rugs, and the edges of your home. Several household pests will eat, or carry the earth, and it expands rapidly in the pest`s stomach, virtually making them "burst."

I have posted a tip about using borax in somewhat the same manner, but I did not know about using diatomaceous earth. I know that baking powder can be mixed with vinegar to clean drains ( see my plumbing tips ), and that charcoal can be used as a room deodorizer, but there must be a lot more similar tips. If you know of some, please feel free to submit tips from the Home Improvement site.

Maybe we can come up with a use for all this belly-button lint I`ve saved over the years.
