Tip of the Week

A reader recently wrote:
"We`re building a new house and I wanted to paint it all one color for now.

I replied:
"First let me suggest that you check local supply houses for a consultant.
Lots of stores have a kitchen consultant who can photograph your rooms,
download the pictures, and show you what different colors will look like.

Secondly, remember that this is YOUR house. You should paint it to please
yourself, not the next person who will live there next. It doesn`t matter what
someone else thinks is pretty, but what you think.

Third, it is just a coat of paint. Don`t be afraid to buy a quart of paint
to put on a wall to see how it will look. If you don`t like it, get another
color. In fact, there may be a painting party on the horizon. Put some
burgers on the grill and invite everyone you know to select a color scheme
for a different wall. Then, the next weekend, do it again with the colors
you liked."
